The Indian Premier League 2020 is known as IPL 13th seasons but officially known as Vivo IPL. This IPL league was established by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in 2007. Indian Premier League (IPL) mainly held during March to May within eight teams from different cities. Since inception there are 13 teams that has participated in the IPL tournament. However , out of those 13, 5 IPL teams have been dissolved from this tournament due to various reasons.

Currently participating teams in IPL tournament are Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Out of these teams, Mumbai Indians(MI) is the most successful team in IPL. They became champions winning 4 titles in the IPL tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. But, the most consistent team in IPL is Chennai Super Kings(CSK). They have qualified for playoff each time they have participated in IPL, apart from 2 seasons when they were banned.
Name of Dissolved teams in IPL
Dissolved teams in this tournament are Deccan Chargers (DC), Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK), Pune Warriors (PW), Gujarat Lions (GL) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).
Out of these five teams, Deccan Chargers were dissolved first for financial crisis. While, KTK was terminated from the tournament for breaching the contract with BCCI, Pune Warriors withdrew themselves due to some financial differences with BCCI.
Due to match-fixing charges on the team owners, the CSK & RR were suspended for two seasons based on the supreme court verdict. To make up those two vacant spots in the IPL, the BCCI asked for fresh bids for two seasons from the interested people. This is why RPS & GL were inducted to the tournament but for only two seasons.
Upcoming IPL Season
IPL 2020 will be the 13th edition of the cash-rich T20 tournament in India. Speculations are there that the BCCI is looking to increase the number of participating teams in the tournament by adding two more franchises. The cricket fans have started guessing the cities which could see new franchises in the IPL.
